At Home with the Lectionary

Year A, Proper 16

Send us a text

In this episode, we consider the readings for Proper 16, Year A:

Exodus 1:8-2:10 & Psalm 124; Isaiah 51:1-6 & Psalm 138; Romans 12:1-8; Matthew 16:13-20.

We discuss the courage of the women of Exodus 1-2 - Shiphrah, Puah, Jochebed, Miriam & Bithia - in the context of political intrigue and genocidal cruelty, David's trust that the Lord would not abandon the work of His hands, Paul's exhortation to a *life* of discernment and individual participation and giftedness in the body of Christ, and Jesus' probing questions about who people - and who His disciples - say He is.
